ElevenLabs Launches Japanese Subsidiary, Enters Market with AI Voice Technology

U.S.-based AI voice generation company ElevenLabs established its Japanese subsidiary, ElevenLabs Japan, on April 14, 2025, in Chiyoda, Tokyo. This marks the company’s first overseas expansion.

ElevenLabs aims to generate several hundred million yen in revenue in Japan by the end of 2025. The company plans to hire over 10 employees within the year, and will work with both businesses and government organizations (B2B and B2C) to expand product awareness by showcasing real-world use cases.

Its AI platform, ElevenLabs, offers a wide range of functions, including natural-sounding text-to-speech, voice cloning, noise removal, and speech-to-text conversion. These features support various industries such as video production, audiobooks, call centers, and education.

The company chose to enter the Japanese market due to the growing demand for multilingual support and the strong potential for voice technology. Opportunities include content localization for inbound tourism and corporate training.

At the same time, ElevenLabs is addressing concerns around the safety of generative AI. Technologies like “No Go Voices” and “voiceCAPTCHA” are being implemented to prevent misuse, including impersonation with cloned voices.
