Taiwan's Autonomous Driving Startup "Turing Drive" Accelerates Expansion into Japan

Successful pilot in Miyakojima paves the way for regional mobility solutions!

Turing Drive Inc., a Taiwan-based autonomous driving startup, has taken a major step into the Japanese market through a partnership with local transportation solutions provider Xtran Inc.Together, they successfully completed a driverless vehicle pilot project in Miyakojima, Okinawa, supported by JETRO’s J-Bridge initiative.

Founded in 2018 and headquartered in Taiwan, Turing Drive operates in six countries including the U.S., India, China, Thailand, and Japan. The company specializes in autonomous driving systems for controlled environments such as amusement parks, golf courses, ports, and factories. It already has multiple commercial deployments in place.

Building on the success in Miyakojima, Turing Drive and Xtran plan to expand to other regions in Japan, including Hiroshima and Tokushima.

According to co-founder and head of business development Hubert Chen, Japan is the company’s most important overseas market, currently accounting for about 70% of its total revenue.

Japan’s Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism (MLIT) aims to implement over 100 autonomous driving projects by 2027, positioning Turing Drive’s initiatives as a promising model for sustainable regional transportation.
